Chillin' @ The Pub

Bookmark and Share

Thursday Food has shared notes with you about the Grog Shoppe, a culinary oasis located on the grounds of the Devon House. But did you know about The Pub located just next door?

The Pub was for decades the place to enjoy the legendary Devon Duppy, eat light nosh and enjoy good conversation and laughter with friends. There's nothing like a facelift, however, so after a brief closure and now under new management, the bar and eatery are once again open for business. The good news is that it has maintained its rustic ambiance and still boasts an inviting outdoor dining area. The better news is that the indoor bar has been upgraded â€" unlike the previous layout the new bar is now a non-smoking area enclosed with air conditioning, making it a lot more comfortable for patrons.

Not your regular hot dog: this 'dog' is smothered in chilli and cheese
and topped with jalapeños — delicious to the very last bite!

Beef skewers with red bell peppers, tomatoes
and red onion on a pool of dressing and
mayonnaise, served with toasted garlic bread.

Curry pumpkin bisque topped with
crunchy croutons.

The pub's 'taco fries' are covered with cheddar
cheese, chilli con carne and jalapeños.

Pub food, now a major pull overseas (especially in the UK), is incorporated and the menu features an assortment of delights â€" savoury sandwiches and hot dogs, seasoned fries, in addition to flavourful potages and potpies.

Owner Wayne Foster is still contemplating the 'right' name, but is for now happy with The Pub at Devon House. Based on the response so far, it seems patrons are too.
